Journey of Gravita
Our recycling journey began in 1994 with our 1st Lead recycling plant in Jaipur. Gravita has since then added many more milestones on our Amazing Journey. In 2001, we went overseas establishing a Lead Recycling unit in Sri Lanka. At Gravita, we have always firmly believed that sustainable development is a Global Mission. We embarked on this mission by expanding further, this time in 2007, we established a Recycling unit in Ghana, our first in the Continent of Africa.
Our fast-paced growth, in-line with our mission to be a Global Recycling Player, led us to our next big step, Going Public. Gravita India Limited launched its IPO in 2010 and listed itself on India’s Biggest Stock Exchanges, The NSE and NSE.
We have always adopted in our Ethos a strong sense of responsibility to all our stakeholders. Generating Financial Returns became one of our driving forces. In 2013, we expanded further and forward integrated into the Value-Added Products Market. Gravita was not producing High-Margin, Customised, and World-Class Lead Products at our State-of-the-Art plant in Phagi.
Our Mission To be recognized as a ‘True Recycler’ led us to diversify beyond Lead. In 2015, we diversified into Plastic recycling by establishing a PET recycling unit in Nicaragua, Central America. This expanded our Manufacturing footprints across 4 continents. Keeping true to our recycling DNA, we diversified again in 2016 by venturing into Aluminum recycling in 2016.
Africa has been at the heart of our growth. In 2019, we expanded our Aluminium and Plastic recycling businesses to Africa. As of today, Gravita operates 4 manufacturing facilities and over 20 scrap collection centers in Africa. We have been recognized by the UNEP for our efforts in helping build the continent of Africa.
Environmental Effects of Recycling
Gravita is one of the World’s leading non-ferrous metals and plastics recycling brands and we are driven by our philosophy that Recycling is the need of the hour for a Sustainable Future. We operate within 3 Recycling verticals across 11 Recycling plants & 1 Recycling Equipment Manufacturing facility. The circular green economy is at the heart of all of Gravita’s operations.
Climate change has been termed as one of the greatest challenges facing humanity today. The phenomenon has the potential to cause irreversible changes to global weather patterns thereby causing widespread hardships to all living beings on the planet. As a responsible recycler, we are focused on continuous innovation and the most sustainable business practices to reduce our Carbon footprint and the impact our business activities have on the environment and society at large. We are adopting alternative sources of energy, like Solar, in our operations and continuously strive to make a positive impact for all our stakeholders.
Our Jaipur plant is India’s 1st ILA accredited plant having passed the most stringent of global standards. We have replicated the standards of our Jaipur plant across the globe at all our manufacturing facilities.
